The Transparent Watercolor Society of America, (TWSA) is a national organization promoting the art of watercolor painted in a transparent manner, meaning no opaque paints are used, such as gouache or acrylic. The art has been referred as the most difficult medium to control because the paints are layered so that the white of the paper shows through giving a glow to the work. The use of flowing water adds an element of excitement as it sometimes brings surprises when spontaneity is allowed.  A Signature Status is an honor given to an artist who has been accepted into the TWSA exhibit for three or more times.  After ten acceptances the artist is awarded Master Status.
